The original Columbine Airport was southwest of Denver near Coal Mine Road and Kipling Street until it was bulldozed around 1978 by Wood Brothers to build houses.
Jimmy had flown his 1962 Cessna 172 from his home in Durham, North Carolina to Colorado.

Jeffco Airport was renamed Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport on October 10, 2006.
Arapahoe Airport was renamed Centennial Airport on July 13, 1984.
