Lundberg Family.

John was the best pilot I ever had the pleasure to fly with, and he would have made a great instructor. This web page is dedicated to my good friends, John Lundberg and his family. I'll never forget their friendship and kindness.

Jim Stewardson also worked at Cobe Laboratories and was a good friend of John Lundberg and me. This view is looking to the southeast, and Jim's runway is in the center. It ran east-west.

Linda brought a lunch basket for us. The trip was an unusual treat for me. I never had a pilot friend like John and his family share so many fun times.

Old engine and rail cars.
Just south of the airport a guy had an acreage where he collected old rail cars. He had laid a lot of track with the intent to open a railroad amusement park. By this time, the guy, whom I never met or or even saw, had passed away and the cars were in disrepair. Still, it was fun to walk around the area and imagine what might have been.

There was even a turntable for positioning engines for moving them into one of several maintenance rooms in the round house, but there was no round house. At the left is the engine house, but the roof was never completely shingled. Perhaps the guy ran out of money or passed away before it was finished. An engine and tender sat outside. I visited several times over the years and never saw evidence that anything ran. All of the rolling stock was in the same location on each visit.

In the background, from left to right, are an old passenger coach, a box car, a caboose, and a water tank to supply water to the steam engine.
