Canon EOS 5D
Before Canon became a competitor of Nikon, Nikon made lenses for the Hansa Canon during the 1930s. Although Canon has been making camera bodies
since the 1930s, Nikon's first camera, the Nikon I (Nikon One), was introduced in 1948. The Canon company is six times larger than Nikon, but Nikon is owned by that venerable
Japanese company, Mitsubishi. During the 1980s, when camera companies were developing autofocus technology, Canon succeeded in developing and patenting
an elegant design. Nikon wanted to use elements from that design, and finally came to an agreement with Canon to use their technology.
