By 1915 nearly one-half of all the cars on American roads were Fords, and most of those were Model T's. In 1914 Ford opened his Highland Park plant in Dearborn, Michigan, with the world's first true automotive assembly line. Production that year reached an unprecedented 250,000 cars, a number which continued to grow.

This coupelet is one of the rarest Model T because not very many of them were made due to low demand. At $750, it was the second most expensive car in the Ford line, but it could only seat two people. While the interior trim set a new standard for luxury in Fords, the seats "set new standards for discomfort." The coupelet was one of the few Model T's that was actually more attractive than practical.
