Introduced in 1999, the Nissan Hypermini was designed to be both ecologically friendly and fun to drive. Its aluminum
space frame keeps weight to a minimum and the lithium-ion batteries enable the car to travel over 70 miles before
recharging. A large number of plastic components were made from recycled materials. The charging system for this car
is Inductive, unlike that of the Honda EV Plus which is Conductive.
The Hypermini was first sold in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, Japan, before being released to other markets. Though capable
of freeway speeds, the Hypermini was intended for urban commuters and never sold in the United States.
