Adopt a Locomotive, Caboose, Derrick, Rotary Plow, Rail Car, or Bicycle at the Forney Museum
The Forney Museum of Transportation Adoption Program is designed to raise operating revenues for the Museum by offering organizations, car clubs, individuals, and families the opportunity to "adopt" a Museum artifact in the Collection for one year. This provides an opportunity for adopters to be recognized for their investment in
the care of the vehicles in the Collection.
More than a hundred items in the Collection are available for adoption. There are five main categories of atifacts:
Cars
Carriages
Railroad Locomotives and Rolling Stock
Sleighs
Motorcycles
Trucks
Bicycles

These vehicles in the Collection are available for adoption. They are divided into four adoption categories with adoption fees ranging from $100 to $1,000 per
year. Not all vehicles are always on display and are rotated in and out of storage to keep the display fresh.
Bicycles can be adopted for $50, each.
Entry Level: $100
Support Level: $250
Supreme Level: $500
Grand Level: $1000
Adopting individuals/families or organizations may choose a vehicle to adopt based on price and availability, on a first-come, first-served basis. Adopters receive a "Certificate of Adoption" and photograph of their adopted vehicle.
Signage will be placed near the item identifying the adopting individual or group and the adoption start date and end date. At the end of 10 months, a renewal notice will be sent to the adopting individual, family, or group. They may choose to adopt the same vehicle for another 12 months at the adoption price or select a different vehicle, based on availability, for adoption. A few items to be adopted may be in temporary storage as we rotate the display to keep it fresh. In such cases, a list honoring persons adopting an item will be prominently displayed on the Museum floor.
Individuals and families participating in the Forney Museum Adoption Program will automatically receive a one-year membership in the Museum.
