Phillips Cycles Ltd. a division of B.C.C., was based in Smethwick near Birmingham, England, and was the second-largest British bike maker, after Raleigh, until it was merged with Raleigh
Industries as part of the Tube Investments (TI) takeover in 1960. Its history began early in the 20th century and ended in the 1980s.
The company motto, which was carried on all its badges, was "Renowned the World Over". Birmingham Phillipses often featured a chainwheel with the word "Phillips" in the cutouts, as with this
example. The "Phillips" brand is still used around the world, especially in China and the Far East, having been licensed by Raleigh.
Raleigh-made Phillips models are near the bottom of the quality range.
The exhibit number is unknown.
