This is a photo of the Denver Tramway Powerhouse that generated electricity to power the electric trams that were installed in Denver during the early 1890's. In
1963 J.D. Forney purchased the empty building to house the Forney Museum automobile collection. The rail cars were stored outside of the building. In 1999 the
museum moved to a former grocery warehouse at 4303 Brighton Blvd. where a pit was dug to ground level in order to roll in the 4005 Big Boy locomotive and other
cars of the rail collection as well as the automobiles and other artifacts.
