Engine number: J-279

This car was originally built for and owned by aviation genius Howard Hughes.

The Model J was announced in the fall of 1928, but deliveries did not begin until the spring of 1929. It was reported that this roadster was the only one built with an extended winshield to accommodate the height of Howard Hughes. In the 1970's, Don Williams, owner of the Blackhawk Car Collection, sold the car to Bill Harrah who gave the car to Wayne Newton in appreciation for his performances at Harrah's Hotel and Casino. Wayne Newton later sold the car to the Imperial Palace Auto Collection.

At the time these photos were taken the price was not disclosed, but inquiries were invited.
