This car is one of tne of the most collectible and important Buicks with only 69 examples custom-built for the U.S. and
34 for export. It is an extremely rare and valuable example of a Holden bodied Buick that found its way back to North
America from Auatralia.
The Holden Company is today known as General Motors Australia Division and began as a coachbuilder to GM using chassis
supplied by Buick and other GM divisions in the 1920's and 1930's. This example of a custom-bodied American classis has
all the right elements of style, rarity, and condition. The mirrors on the side mounts as well as the hood ornament are
true art deco treasures and are literally museum quality.
According to the Buick Club of Australia there are only nine 1932 Holden bodied Buicks remaining in Australia and no
Sport Phaeton Tourer exists anywhere in their registry. This example may be the only one left in the world. The running
gear is a standard Series 55 Buick straight 8 engine with a 3-speed transmission and has been completely and thoroughly
refurbished to excellent touring condition.
The car comes with fitted side curtains for bad weather as well as a boot cover for the phaeton top when it is in the
lowered position. Lastly, this car has all features that were available at extra cost including the wire wheels, dual
side mounts, dual horns, dual driving lamps, dual tail lights, accent lamps in the rear passenger compartment, a
dash-mounted clock plus a rear mirror mounted clock, adjustable ride control, luggage rack, trunk, and the fully
adjustable sport windscreen.
At the time these photos were taken, the priced of the car was $95,000.
