This car is one of two right-hand-drive (RHD) 500 Superfast Series II Built.
The Ferarri 500 Superfast (SF) coupe is a very significant automobile. It has a 400 horsepower 4962 cc V-12 engine
which was the most powerful engine available in a passenger car in 1964, producing a top speed of 170 miles per hour.
It was the fastest passenger car at that time.
The 500 Superfast was introduced at the Geneva show in March 1964 and continued the luxury image Ferrari had established
with 410 and 400 Superamericas (SA) built from 1956 to 1964. The 500 Superfast was a grande finale to Ferrari's America
series.
The 500 SF carried the long-wheelbase coachwork similar in style to the America models which were mostly built by
Pininfarina. Only thirty-seven 500 Superfasts were constructed between 1964 and 1966. Twelve of these cars were the
later, 5-speed series II cars, like this fine example.
This outstanding RHD example was ordered new by the official UK importer, Maranello Concessionaires, and entered the
Pininfarina factory on 25 November 1965.
The price at the time these photographs were taken was $1,800,000.
