These are the winners of the 2014 Dennis Vanderhoof Lakewood Historical Society Essay Contest. Presentations were made by Lakewood, Colorado Mayor, Bob Murphy, at a Lakewood City Council Meeting on December 8, 2014.

Grace Wagner moved to Lakewood in December 2013. While writing this winning essay, she attended Arapahoe Community College pursuing a degree in Creative Writing. She has written novels and poetry.

Essay Title: "Lakewood and Her Sisters" |
Sean Jones grew up in Golden, Colorado, attended Wheat Ridge High School, was an Army linguist and translator, and moved with his family to Lakewood in 2004. His son, Andrew, also entered the Dennis Vanderhoof Essay Contest.

When she wrote this essay, Kaylyn Schull was a high school junior. Her favorite activites included swimming, track, and playing the viola.

Andrew Jones was a sixth grader when he wrote this essay. He enjoyed reading, video games, and travel. His favorite sports included swimming and soccer. His father, Sean, also entered the Dennis Vanderhoof Essay Contest.
