At the upper left of the picture is Lakewood's Memorial Field. Before other schools built their own sports fields, many games were
played here. The World War II Memorial is located at the lower right corner of the field. It is to the left of the two trees on the north
edge of the access road that runs behind the building. The memorial itself can't be seen at this resolution.

In this close-up, the marker is in the light-green foliage midway between top of the shadow of the tall bush (or tree) that is to the right
of the center of the photo, and the base of the shadow of the tall light pole on the left.
The World War II Memorial is located on the site of Memorial Field, which is behind the former Lakewood High School at 7655 W. 10th
Avenue on 10th Avenue, a block west of Wadsworth Boulevard.
It was built in 1947 as a tribute to Lakewood students who died in World War II. Tony Bohn of Wheat Ridge designed the
monument.
It honors the following Lakewood students who fell defending their country:
- Rags Addenbrooke
- Ray Junior Brannaman
- John B. Bray
- Dale Broman
- D. Eugene Cline
- John A. Dorak
- Herman William Gerke
- James B. Jellison Jr.
- Danny E. Johnson
- Kenneth Mayberry
- Robert M. Molham
- James D. Smith
After the turn of the millennium, the Lakewood Historical Society revitalized the landscaping around the memorial. After that, the
Lakewood Garden Club maintained it. As of March 2014, the idea of moving the monument to a more visible location, such as a Lakewood
park, was being considered.
