Toolbars



Menu toolbar

  • The Menu toolbar is at the top of the screen with a descriptive word on each button.

Standard toolbar

  • The Standard toolbar has icons and is below the Menu toolbar.

Title Bar

  • The title bar is across the top of a document.

Outlook Bar

  • The outlook bar is the vertical bar with the icons in it at the left side of the screen.

Task Bar

  • The task bar is across the bottom of the screen. It has the Start button at the far left.

Select Toolbars

  • To view and select toolbars:
  • Click View on the Menu toolbar
  • Click Toolbars
  • Click the toolbars you want to see. Those that are already in use are shown with a checkmark to the left of them.

Outlook


Outlook, starting

  • Click the Start button on the taskbar at the lower left of the screen.
  • Click Programs.
  • Click Microsoft Outlook.

Mail Folders

  • Click the Outlook Today button on the Outlook Shortcuts bar at the left side of the Outlook window.

  • Click the Sent Items icon to display your sent messages, if any.

  • Click the Deleted Items icon to display deleted items, if any.

  • Click the Inbox to see messages that have been received.


Message, opening

  • Double-click the message you wish to open.

Message, closing

  • Click the "X" button on the standard tool bar.

Mail Attachments, saving

  • Open an email message by double-clicking on it.

  • Click File on the main toolbar.

  • Click Save Attachments.

  • Enter a name in the box if you wish to rename the email item.

  • Click Save.


Message, replying to

  • Open an email message by double-clicking on it.

  • Click the Reply button on the standard toolbar.

  • Enter your reply.

  • Click the Send button on the standard toolbar.


Message, forwarding

  • Open an email message by double-clicking on it.

  • Click the Forward button on the standard toolbar.

  • Enter the recipients address in the To box.

  • If you wish to, enter a message in the message box.

  • Click the Send button on the stardard toolbar.


Message, creating new

  • Click the New button on the standard toolbar.

  • Enter the recipient's address in the To box.

  • Enter the subject of the email in the Subject box.

  • Enter a message in the message box.

  • Click the Send button on the standard toolbar.


Message, deleting

  • Click the message you wish to delete.

  • Click the Delete button on the standard toolbar.


Deleted Items Folder, deleting

  • Right-click the Deleted Items folder.

  • Click Empty "Deleted Items" folder.

  • Click Yes.

Schedule, viewing

  • Click the Calendar button on the Outlook Shortcuts bar at the left of the Outlook box.

  • Click the Go To Today button on the Calendar toolbar.

  • Click the Week button on the Calendar toolbar.

  • Click the Month button on the Calendar toolbar.


Appointment, scheduling

  • Click the Calendar button on the Outlook portion of the Outlook toolbar.

  • Click on the 11 a.m. time slot in the Day view.

  • Enter "Meeting with Mary" in the tie slot.

  • Press Enter.


Appointment, moving

  • Move the cursor to the vertical bar on the left side of the appointment’s text.

  • Click and drag the appointment or event to the new location.


Appointment, removing

  • Click on the appointment.

  • Click the Delete button on the standard toolbar.


Meeting planning

  • Click the Plan a Meeting button on the Calendar toolbar.

  • Enter the name of an attendee in the Type attendee name here box.

  • Press Enter.

  • Enter the name of the next attendee, press Enter, and continuing this until you are finished.

  • Click the date in the Meeting start time.

  • Click a Meeting start time

  • Click a Meeting start time in the time chart.

  • Click the Meeting end time down arrow and drag the cursor over the time you want.

  • Click the Make Meeting button.

  • Enter the meeting's title in the Subject text box.

  • Enter the meeting's location in the Location text box.

  • Click the Send button on the Meeting toolbar.


To-Do List creation

  • Click the Tasks button on the Outlook bar to the left.
  • Click in the Click here to add a new task box.
  • Enter a to-do item.
  • Press the Enter key.
  • Enter other to-do items, if any, pressing the Enter key after each entry.
  • Click the Due Date down arrow.
  • Enter a due date for that task.
  • Click the empty check box to the left of a task description to indicate the task is complete.
  • Click the Calendar button on the Outlook Bar to return to the Calendar view. The tasks are listed on the TaskkPad at the right side of the schedule.


Contact creation

  • Click the Contacts button on the Outlook Bar.

  • Click the New Contact button on the standard toolbar.

  • Enter the contact information.

  • Click Save on the Contacts toolbar.

  • Click Close on the Contacts toolbar.


Notes creation

  • Click the Notes button on the Outlook portion of the Outlook toolbar.

  • Click the New Note button on the standard toolbar.

  • Enter your note in the Note box.

  • Click in the Notes window to see the note.

  • Double-click the Note in Note View.

Journal Entry creation

  • Click the Journal icon on the Outlook portion of the Outlook toolbar.

  • Click the New Journal button on the standard toolbar.

  • Enter a subject in the Subject text box.

  • Click the Entry Type down arrow.

  • Click the desired type of entry.

  • Click the button at the end of the Contact box.

  • Double-click the person's name in the Select Names box.

  • Click OK.

  • Click Save.

  • Click Close.


Journal Entry deletion

  • Go into Journal View.

  • Right-click the journal entry you wish to delete.

  • Click the Delete button on the shortcut menu.


Outlook, closing

  • Click the close button on the title bar, at the far right. The close button has an "X" on it.

  • Or

  • Click the icon on the title bar, at the far left.

  • Click Close.

  • Or

  • Press Alt + F4.
