Nikkor AF-S 12-24mm f4G Lens
Written by David Barth, May 1, 2004
The lens is lightweight and its compact design fits comfortably in users' hands.
It is a 12-24mm ultra-wide-angle G-type (no aperture ring) zoom lens.
The angle of view is 99 degrees to 61 degrees which is equivalent to an 18-36mm lens on a 35mm (135) format
camera.
The lens has Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass elements to minimize chromatic aberration, provide higher resolution and
superior contrast.
Three aspherical lens elements minimize distortion, especially at the periphery, for superior optical
performance.
It has high-grade Nikon Super Integrated Coating (SIC) which offers superior color reproduction and minimizes ghost
and flare.
The lens has Nikon's exclusive Silent Wave Motor (SWM) for swift autofocusing with superior accuracy and ultra-quiet
operation.
The rounded diaphragm opening has seven blades and makes out-of-focus elements appear more natural.
The closest focusing distance is 0.3m throughout full zoom range.
The manual/automatic (M/A) focusing mode allows rapid switching between autofocus and manual focusing, even during
autofocus (AF) servo operation, with virtually no time lag.
Its Internal Focusing (IF) design gives smoother focusing and great body balance.
A flower-shaped Lens Hood, HB-23, (provided) greatly reduces stray light entering the lens.
the lens fits in Lens Case CL-S2 (available separately).
