Brick Haus Restaurant, Amana, Iowa
written by David Barth, July 2, 2008
Preface
The Brick Haus restaurant is a unique dining experience. The food is served family style in bowls placed on the
table. After your order is taken, the cold dishes are served. After the hot dishes are ready, they are
served.
Bowls can be refilled, but there aren't free seconds on the meat. It is less wasteful to ask to food that you don't
intend to eat not to be served. Once a bowl is served, it must be disposed, regardless of how much, if any, has been
taken from it.
Each table receives all of the cold and hot dishes, except for dishes that you don't want. Each person may order one
meat or seafood entre unless they have selected the less expensive vegetable meal which comes with no meat or
fish entre.
My experience is that service is excellent, buy perhaps we have not eaten there are the busiest times.
The food is outstanding. It all tastes homemade, and it is easy to overeat.
