Edited by David Barth, 7 December 2008
from page 163 of the October 2008 issue of Wired, review of international issues
in a book by Parag Khanna, "The Second World - Empires and Influence in the New World Order."
Key approach: Dangerous and too long ignored.
The author says that Uzbekistan is the the most important country that no one talks about. It is the only country
that borders all the other -stan nations whose volitility and strategic significance increase each day. It is the
most populous and industrialized nation in energy-rich central Asia. The challenge for the U.S. is in dealing with
the autocratic regime that does not recognize many human rights.
